RESEARCH & EDUCATION SYMPOSIUM
CLICK HERE TO SUBMIT A PROPOSAL ONLINE (RESEARCH & EDUCATION SYMPOSIUM ONLY)

Deadline to submit proposals for the symposium: March 31, 2017 (midnight Eastern). Late submissions can not be considered. Proposals must be submitted online.
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE THEME: ELECTRIFYING!
In your work as a family enterprise scholar, what research electrifies you?
In your role as an educator, what family enterprise research jolts your classroom?
Sometimes researchers, like family business professionals, encounter data and relationships and events that are difficult to acknowledge. These challenges are draining of one’s work energy. One risks short-circuit. And yet, both the researcher and the professional might benefit from daring to confront these aspects of the family enterprise that otherwise remain under cover, secret.
Has your work revealed unexpected findings?
What happens, in the academy and in the enterprise, when you uncover unethical practices, brilliant innovations, surprising family stresses, or unorthodox organizations?
Let’s share these findings, particularly in areas we have difficulty discussing:
FFI is soliciting proposals for:
A single opening Master Class session
1 to 2 hours with an in-depth discussion and participant interaction. Typically this is a workshop or panel discussion with break-out activities or group exercises. An experiential component is essential.
Idea Lab sessions
1.5 hour sessions with multiple presenters, preferably including an academic whose research raises thorny issues, optionally a teacher who uses such research in an educational setting, possibly a practicing professional (consultant or family member) who can describe their experience of these issues from the business point of view.
30 minute presentations to discuss emerging topics. Typically these are a single presenter. Snap learning sessions will be paired thematically into a 1-hour time slot and will be moderated.
