The Family Firm Institute (FFI) is an international professional membership organization dedicated to providing interdisciplinary education and collaborative opportunities for family business and family wealth advisors, consultants, educators, and researchers and to increasing public awareness about trends and developments in the family business and family wealth fields.
The organization was founded in 1986 by a group of professionals, educators and family business executives who recognized the need for interdisciplinary collaboration.
Its mission is to be the trusted resource for the family enterprise field.
• FFI has more than 1500 individual and organizational members across the globe.
• 70% of the members are family enterprise advisors and consultants, 30% are educators, researchers, and students.
• Members’ practices range from niche-oriented sole practitioners to small boutique consulting firms to major professional companies worldwide. Members consult with families of wealth and family enterprises at all levels — from local entrepreneurs to international Fortune 500 companies.
• More than 150 academic institutions worldwide have created family enterprise research and/or educational centers or specialized family business-oriented curriculum. Educators, researchers and directors of these centers are active participants in FFI.
