History, Genealogy, & Family Business: Ron Drucker Shares His Family's Business Story

FFI MAC invites you to learn about a family business story as seen through the context of history. Ron Drucker, a CPA, attorney and FFI Fellow, will take you back in time as he shows you how his family and their relationships, culture, education, and general macro and micro business dynamics all played a part in key events in the family and business.

You will learn about how his family emigrating from Poland to the US in the early part of the 20th century, created one of the most successful bagel businesses ever and how it all subsequently, after 60 years, fell apart. Ron will not hesitate to cover the "warts,” as he calls them. While not proud of his family’s imperfect history, one cannot truly understand the family or its culture unless you hear the full story.

The value of the "story” with its positive and negative elements is key to understanding our clients and having them appreciate you as a person worthy of their trust. History, details and culture matter!

Featured Speakers:

Ronald H. Drucker, CPA, JD, LLM , Drucker & Scaccetti

As one of the founding shareholders of Drucker & Scaccetti, Ron was a driving force in the establishment of the firm in 1990. Ron has developed a substantial practice that is based primarily on family business consulting, litigation support and tax services for individuals and businesses. In fact, he has been designated as a fellow by the Family Firm Institute, which is the largest professional organization devoted to family business consulting. Ron has also represented buyers and sellers in business sales transactions, handled complex estate administration issues and provided for the planning and facilitation of mergers.

Ron has been providing tax and business services to clients for more than 40 years. Before Ron helped found D&S, he was a partner and director of Tax Services for Laventhol & Horwath (L&H) in its Philadelphia office, and served as partner in charge of the New Jersey offices. In addition to his client service and administrative responsibilities, he also co-authored the book Your Family Business - A Success Guide for Growth and Survival, which was published by Dow Jones-Irwin.

Ron received his bachelor of business administration degree in finance from Pace University in 1964. He earned his juris doctor degree from St. John’s University Law School in 1967, and his master of law degree from New York University Graduate School of Law in 1976.

Ron and two other shareholders of D&S are partners in the Philadelphia law firm of Drucker Beckman Sobel, LLP. Ron is also a founder of, and provides consulting services to, the New Jersey CPA firm of Drucker, Math & Whitman, P.C.

Ron and his wife, Susan, reside in Wayne, Pennsylvania. Originally from New York, Ron and Susan have made the Delaware Valley their home for more than 30 years. They have two adult daughters who are both successful in their professional careers.

Ron and Susan enjoy being with family and friends and relish the opportunity to travel. Ron has great interest in hotels and restaurants, which stems from his many years in the Catskill Mountains, his family’s association with various aspects of the food business, and his experience with L&H, former leaders in the field of hospitality consulting. Ron has not only provided consulting services to resorts, hotels and restaurants, he has also invested in these types of businesses and on occasion has managed and sold them. In addition to restaurants and hotels, Ron’s diverse interests include genealogy, hiking and horse racing.
