Implementing a Family Strategy to Build a Strong Partnership between the Board, Management, and Family

Many families don’t realize the impact on board, management, or overall operations of a business (either negative or positive) because they don’t see themselves as partners who can affect business performance.

Meghan Juday will talk about how she has worked with her own family and other family businesses to implement a family strategy to ensure that the family is the best possible partner with the board and management and has the right programs in place to become better stewards as the business grows.

Meghan Juday, owner of Family Business Strategy Group, has been involved on the Family Council for IDEAL Industries for 20 years, and the Family Council Chair for the last 10 years. She consults with family businesses to help them develop a Family Strategy, and implement a governance model that can execute their plan.

About Presenter:

Meghan Juday, founder of Family Business Strategy Group, has created a process for helping families define their vision, values and strategies to ensure continued stewardship of the family enterprise. FBSG works with families who recognize the need for a strong partnership between the family and business but require a framework.

Meghan’s background comes from working as a Business Analyst and Project Manager at CSC as well as being a next generation leader of the IDEAL INDUSTRIES family. Her consulting with diverse clients, both in the private and public sectors, has been invaluable for developing a methodology for achieving maximum buy-in and implementing change in an organization.

For the past 10 years, Meghan has been the IDEAL Family Council Chair and a director on the IDEAL INDUSTRIES board of directors, a primarily independent board. Meghan has worked closely with the Loyola Family Business Center (LFBC) as a participant in a focus group to define and develop the Family Business Stewardship Institute.

Meghan was one of the first graduates of the Family Business Stewardship Institute at the LFBC. Meghan has a BA from St. John's College in Santa Fe, NM where she graduated in 1994 with a concentration in Mathematics and Philosophy.
