Publications

FFI produces a suite of resources for researchers and practitioners in the field of family business and family wealth advising.

Family Business Review

Family Business Review (FBR) is the only scholarly publication in the world devoted exclusively to exploration of the dynamics of family-controlled enterprise, including firms ranging in size from the very large to the relatively small. FBR is focused not only the entrepreneurial founding generation, but also on family enterprises in the 2nd and 3rd generation and beyond, including some of the world’s oldest companies. In addition, the journal publishes interdisciplinary research on families of wealth and the family office.

The Best of FBR II

The Best of FBR II, is a comprehensive look at the most important research and analysis in the family business field as published in the premier family business journal, Family Business Review. First published in 1996 and edited by Richard Beckhard, this publication was reissued in 2006 as part of the 20th anniversary cele–bration. Edited by Kelin Gersick, the Best of FBR II contains 39 of the most significant articles to appear in FBR since its inception in 1988.

Clásicos de FBR en Español

Clásicos de FBR in Español contains 21 articles. Alberto Gimeno Sandig and Sol Elvira Pérez Torres Lara are the editors of this volume, which is pub–lished in collaboration with Fundación Nexia in Barcelona.

Conference Proceedings

Published annually (in print until 2008, online since 2009), the Proceedings chronicle the best thinking in the field as presented by cutting edge keynotes and skilled professionals in plenaries and workshops at the annual FFI conference.

FFI Practitioner

The Practitioner is an electronic journal, published two to four times a year by the Family Firm Institute. Its purpose is to provide family business professionals and family wealth advisors with practical, user-friendly content on best practices from across the core disciplines of behavioral science, law, finance, and management science as well as the latest cross-disciplinary thinking in these fields. The Practitioner augments and complements the Family Business Review and other FFI publications, programs, and resources.

Intelligence Matters

Intelligence Matters is a series that features a compelling discussion on a critical topic of timely relevance for the family enterprise.  Each issue brings an insightful examination punctuated by analysis and solution proposals out of the unique perspective of those highly experienced in the selected subject.

Practice Papers

The Practice Papers provide FFI members with practical, up-to-date ideas and commentary that is useful in their family business consulting practices.

FFI On Friday

Published weekly, the e-newsletter, FFI On Friday, provides updates on member activities and upcoming events and offers articles of interest to practitioners, researchers and educators.
